TOMBALL CELEBRATES 85TH ANNIVERSARY OF GUSHER WITH MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND FESTIVAL
 
Celebrate Tomball’s 1933 Humble Oil Company gusher as the City hosts the Oiltown USA Jamboree on Sunday, May 27th at the historic 1907 Depot.  This old-style county fair kind of festival will celebrate the 85th anniversary of the event that gave Tomball the handle nationally of “Oiltown USA”. 

The original “Tomball Oil Patch Kids” will be recognized in a special ceremony, as Cool Freddie & the Crew and Double Infinity serenade festival goers with tunes from the 1930s and 1940s throughout the afternoon. 

An exhibit of vintage cars and trucks will line Market Street complements of the Piney Woods Ford Model “A” Car Club, while the Klein family shows pieces from their personal collection of memorabilia depicting the early days of Tomball and their local family businesses: Klein Funeral Home, Klein Feed Store and Klein Market.

There will be county fair style games and contests such as a tug of war, horse shoe and skillet tossing, and an old fashion pie eating contest sponsored by H-E-B. There will also be free pony rides and a petting zoo for the kids.
Festival food vendors will be on-site with a variety tasty treats.

The Oiltown USA Jamboree is Sunday, May 27th from 1 to 5 pm at Tomball’s historic downtown Depot on South Elm Street at Market.  Admission and parking are free.  Tomball is just 28 miles northwest of downtown Houston on FM 2920 at Highway 249/Tomball Tollway.  Visit tomballtx.gov or “Tomball Texan for Fun” on Facebook for more information.
